Our newsletter is named "The Charge" in honor of the 100 original New Salem Invincibles that 
took part in the Charge at Val Verde Crossing on the Rio Grande River, New Mexico on Feb 21, 1862. General Sibley was in command of the 4th and 5th Texas volunteers, 5 companies of 7th Mounted Volunteers, one battery of 1st Texas Artillery and six companies of the 2nd Texas mounted Rifles.
