From the viewpoint of a confederate soldier, secession was vital for the well being of their family’s protection. The preservation of freedom and liberty, motivated the south to succeed from the United States of America. The Sons of Confederate Veterans are proud of the country we live in today, and we strive to protect the lawful dignity of the men that made this nation the way it is today, self-governing.
Our organization, organized in Virginia in 1896, is the direct inheritance of the United Confederate Veterans. The SCV is the oldest male organization founded on the descendant's pride of a Confederate Soldier. Our historical, patriotic, non-racial, and non-political organization uses its strength to preserve cemeteries, place markers on graves, and restore the honor of our forefathers.
You are eligible for the Sons of Confederate Veterans if you have a documented bloodline to a confederate soldier who served in the armed forces of the Southern Nations honorably. A direct or co-lateral bloodline will qualify you.
