The Moses M. Buckner Chapter 2442 of the Daughters of the Confederacy held their Annual Confederate Memorial Service Sunday April 20, 2008 at West Shady Grove cemetery. The cemetery is located near Pierce's Chapel, southwest of Jacksonville, Texas. Historian, Marcia DuBose, was chairman for planning the UDC portion of the service.

The service — jointly sponsored by Moses M. Buckner Chapter 2442, Invincible Rose Chapter 37 and New Salem Invincibles Camp 2107 SCV — was at 2 P.M., Sunday, April 20, at the cemetery. Ten Confederate Veterans buried in the cemetery were identified and were memorialized at that time. Relatives of all 10 veterans spoke on behalf of their ancestor.
